Broadband query

Hello,

I have recently upgraded from 150mps to 900mps with complete Wi-Fi for £1 per month extra.

However although I already have an extra disc it would seem from doing speed tests I need one or more extra ones. Does anybody know what the complete Wi-Fi as part of the upgrade actually means?

@happypete  What speeds are you now getting on 900mbps from your previous 150mbps?

It's clearly obviously your choice, but were you lured into the 900mbps package purely off the back of £1 a month extra? I found myself in a similar situation a couple of weeks back being offered 900mbps for a similar figure over my current 500mbps, which is already overkill in a two person household, but we do have 30 devices on WiFi and Wife WFH. Decided the extra speed just wasn't worth the money, especially as the cost increase over the following two years would have hiked the price up to a non sensical monthly amount.

It’s more than doubled, but I thought it wasn’t worth the hassle re leaving BT or other offers.
It was the complete Wi-Fi aspect that made me think I should’ve got more discs.
At age 78 I just want a quiet life 😆

Speeds tests in no way indicate if you need more WiFi extenders, they simply extend WiFi to areas that have little or no signal , you can’t say (for example) I’m not getting 900Mb or anywhere near so I must need further WiFi devices, ….speed  tests only really indicate anything worthwhile if it’s from a wired device ( so not WiFi connected device ) and even then it may be the wired device that is limiting the observed speed, chances are your contractual speed is being delivered.

If you need further WiFi coverage in your home (but not further speed from WiFi ) because parts if you home are not currently covered or have a poor ‘signal’ strength , and you pay for ‘ Complete WiFi ‘ as an extra , then as far as I know up to 3 can be provided, if you demonstrate that the signal is poor in some areas , this is not just a case of saying ‘my speed is not what I expected’  as that may not be fixable with extra WiFi extending devices.

Yes, it’s 900 to the hub, but running speed tests from 2 different sources they both commented that Wi-Fi might need to be looked at. How can they say complete Wi-Fi and not provide the equipment

@happypete  I respect your decision on staying put with BT, but please, don't get suckered into paying an exorbitant amount of money every month for something you might not actually need. This forum is littered with accounts of people paying well over the monthly odds for what some folks get for a third of the cost. Whilst appreciating you don't want the hassle of leaving BT, you can get 900mbps broadband (without a phone line) for sub £30 a month. Those of us who don't like subsidising others, switch every couple of years, the rewards outweigh the perceived inconvenience.

WiFi coverage is ‘guaranteed’ not WiFi speed , they are not the same thing , no one guarantees WiFi speed as it’s massive influenced by your own equipment and local environment , the guarantee is you will get a useable signal through out your home .

Of course, sorry it’s coverage I am enquiring about, hence the question about the number of discs required to fulfill the promise of complete wifi

Thanks for your help but I’m querying the principle of selling a contract with complete Wi-Fi and not providing it. I’ll give them a ring.
