Keep in mind that if your wife only uses a web browser for her email she will still be able to use it for free.
It is only if she wants to use an email app or email client that she will need to get a BT Premium email account at £7.50 per month.
That's a result at least, getting rid of Halo. Shame that BT clearly have no issues in letting customers go, but if they're not prepared to budge, especially on Halo, then you've absolutely done the right thing.
Shame about the email address. Paying 90 quid a year is steep, especially when you can get a far superior subscription option for just around a third of the cost per year, or free with other providers if you don't mind being bombarded with Ads. I get it, folks don't want the hassle of change, but I've always thought it utterly pointless throwing one's money down the toilet just for convenience, but there it is. I pay for my email, but it certainly isn't with an ISP.
As for the landline, once it's gone, you soon forget you ever had it. Fact is, there are a lot of people that only keep a landline because 'they've always had one'. It's just a magnet for spammers. I do appreciate however that for some, it is an absolute necessity. Thankfully in my situation, both mobiles we have here, we use WiFi calling off our broadband all the time in the house anyway, no difference in service whatsoever.
Edit: The usual warning, when sending your Halo gear and router back to BT, make sure you keep proof of posting and photo the return tracking slip.
