Broadband

I currently have a Bt package that cost me £83 per month due to circumstances i can no longer afford it and spoke to BT stating i want to get rid of the home phone / EE back up box and BT booster leaving me with just a router for broadband, the best they could do me is £59 . When i said you are advertising for £30 he said its for new customers only. My question is my  daughter and son - in law ( who live with me ) have EE mobile and it shows they can get broadband  with router for £30 . Can i close my BT account and open a new one under my daughter and son - in laws name. Thanks in advance

@alan300a

if you are still in a fixed term contract then ending early will incur early termination penalties based on number of remaining months of contract

Re: Broadband

If you are not in fixed term contract you can close your account by giving BT 30 days notice. This will cost you nothing to do that.

If you are still in contract you will be hit with cancellation fees for terminating the contract early. Depending on how long your fixed term contract still has to run this could cost a lot of money.

In either event your daughter and son in law could take out a new contract once you have cancelled.

They should shop around to find the best deals as BT may not necessarily be the best priced.

If you have a land line phone you would lose this when you cancel unless you opt to keep a phone only package. This would slightly complicate things when your daughter tries to set up a new broadband package but it should not be unsurmountable.

You may have a mobile phone which would suit your needs so not having a landline phone may be no great loss.

I missed that part about the EE mobiles.

Phone BT and see if they will negotiate a better deal if you move to EE and if they won't give a better deal tell them that in that case you will terminate your package.

That is provided that is what you want to do keeping in mind what has already been post regarding cancellation fees etc.
