Cancelling mother-in-law's BT contract due to terminal diagnosis and moving for care

Hi,

My mother in law has recently been given a terminal cancer diagnosis and is no longer able to live on her own due to a downturn in her health so she will be moving in with us prior to hospice care etc.

Following my father in law's death earlier this year as well, the BT account for her phone and broadband was changed over into her name earlier this year on a  new 2 year contract.

As my mother in law is no longer able to care for herself in her own home due to her illness and other disabilities that have recently deteriorated, her property is being sold in a few weeks and she will be cared for by us until hospice care is needed in due course.

Is there a way to get the contract terminated on compassionate grounds without having to pay an extortionate cancellation charge as she will no longer need a phone or broadband ?  Is there a dedicated team within BT that deals with situations like this other than calling a general call centre who just run off a pre-designed script?

I have asked the mods to see if they can help you terminate the contract and they will post here
