Change BT username without having access to bt email

Go to solution

I have been locked out of my btinternet account. It has been ‘secured’.

my fault too many login attempts with the wrong password and username when changing phones.

to reset I need to login first via MyBT but whilst I can set a new password using a text message I also need to change my username to an email address.

The problem is that to confirm my new user name BT need to send me an email to the btinternet account that I cannot access.

It’s a closed loop and I cannot access email.

Any ideas please.

See link to change your BTID.

https://www.bt.com/help/security/usernames-and-passwords/more-help-with-account-roles/changing-your-...

You will need to change your recovery email address in your MyBT.

You need to go to "Your Details" then "Personal Details" and go to "Contact Details where it states "This is the email address and mobile number we will use to send recovery details to if something goes wrong. The email address used must be different to your BT ID username".  Make sure you use a non BT email address if possible.

If you can not get into your MyBT you will need to contact BT 0330.1234.150 and ask them to reset your password.
