Change of account holder

Go to solution

Im sure the answer maybe the same as when I was on live chat mid last year and that someone else posted on here a good while ago but thought I would ask again to re check.

Account for BT FTTC and phone is in dads name and always has been. He will be in his late 80s later in the year and his health is now not always the best.

He has minor dementia and has been slowly going downhill since the first Covid lockdown nearly 2 years ago and has been in and out of hospital at lest twice in the last 6 or 7 months.

Last time I checked and what I read on here after a similar post and reply is that you have to wait to near the end of contract and then ask for the account holders name to be changed on the BT bill .

Is this still the case.

We still have about 9 months to go on the BT FTTC contract and its me that in the last few years thats takeover paying 85% of the household bills.

@ney

Yes, you would need to wait until the contract ends, then cancel his service.

You would then need to take out a new contract in your name.
