I believe BT made some changes to the Non Return Equipment Charges effective 8th May.
Does the charge that is applied relate to the charge in place at the time the equipment loan was made and contractually supplied or is the company seeking to charge a potentially higher charge ?
it appears to be a set out fixed fee

that is why i have asked for clarification from BT as the SET Box terms (included the amounts of non return charge) would have formed part of the original contract.
So request for clarification stands.
ie are BT intending to charge more for non return than the charge that was advised at the time the contract/loan was made ?
The maximum that BT can charge you for non-return of equipment is the amount specified in the terms and conditions when individual piece(s) of equipment were supplied.
So as an example, I took out a new contract on 2nd May 2025. Most of the T&Cs that apply are those in force on my new contract date. However, the charges if I were to leave and not return the SH2 router would be what was specified in my original contract dating back to 2nd May 2023.
If you think there are newer T&Cs in place than those posed by @imjolly could you post a link to them please!
No price/cost is given when you get issued with the equipment so I'd be very surprised if it is not one price fits all. Fail to return the equipment and you will be charged the going rate at todays prices as per the web page.
@Crimliar that is a help web page (explaining charges) rather than terms & conditions.
so are you really talking about set top boxes and not equipment in general. does your contract specify an amount you will be charged if you do not return set top box?
Have you asked BT for clarification?
