Contacting BT by phone

Maybe it's because I am unsophisticated in these things but I find when I wish to ask a question and speak to a human being by phone, that there a number of obstacles put in my way. For instance, referring me to a text reply which then says because I'm not an EE customer they cannot help me.

Is there a trick Im missing in navigating the system to speak to someone?

Any advice much appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bit of a hard time speaking with the team directly. 
Just for my own understanding here, are you using a number from our Contact BT page?

The "technique" that I use when calling a company, (any company), whose menu system does not obviously have the option I need is to repeat several times "speak to an adviser" or "speak to a real person".

I'm not a BT customer any more, and haven't been for several years, so this might not work when calling BT?

The main customer number I used was: 0330 123 4150. There were one or two others but this has been the main one.

 

It may have been a blip in the system or maybe Im an idiot lol, but I found it hard to get through.

It is definitely the right number to call @PaulC3.

As @Paul608085 mentioned, if there are any options for speaking to an agent, it will get you through to someone. Even if it is not the right place, they can then pass you on to someone who can help.

Thanks very much Michael.

I was just confused because on Tuesday morning when I range that number they said to hang up and they would text me back. When they texted me back they said as I was not an EE customer they couldn't help.

Perhaps this was just a blip?

There is an option for that on EE, but if you do hear it again choosing option 2 should give you the normal options.
