Contacting BT

Go to solution

When trying to contact BT in order to inform them that you wish to leave, do they ever answer the phone?

The number I obtained from their chat facility is 0800 783 1401 but when calling this number, it never seems to get answered. I tried once yesterday and gave up after 15 minutes and again this morning and had the same result.

I've just called the number they give if you want to sign up (0800 800 150) and surprise surprise, it was answered after the first ring.

It's almost as if they don't want to speak to people who want to close their account.
I wasn't 100% sure about leaving but this has help convince me that I've made the right choice.

Are you moving to a different provider? If that provider uses the Openreach network (all of them except Virgin and the new alt-net fibre companies) then you do not cancel with BT, the gaining provider does that.

The same team they deal with new provisions also deal with ceases.
