Contract change?

Go to solution

Just received the following message from BT:

"Your trial period ends in seven days. To keep your speed boost permanently, select Upgrade to Full Fibre: "

I have a full fibre contract until January 2028. What's going on?

Are you sure it's from BT and not a scam?

@FredMel  You haven't stated how you received the message. If it is via email, it could be spam. Is it addressed 'Dear Customer' or are you named personally. Does it show the last four digits of your BT account number? Sometimes BT start their email messages off with just 'Hello'. Either way, DO NOT CLICK on any links in the email.

Re: Contract change?

I have received the same via email and text message this morning - email via [email protected]   and text via the usual '-BT-' number that provides bill updates etc.

The email addresses me by first name, however, I have not followed the link and forwarded to phishing, as I am still in contract for another 17 months and was unaware of any trial.

Please don't anyone click on that link whether it's genuine or not!

Re: Contract change?

Appears to be ok, it addresses me by my given first name, which is on the account, rather than my nickname, which I use everywhere else. I’ve received a similar message by text to my mobile and asks me to ring BT if I want to continue with the fastest speeds, but doesn’t give a number to call, so maybe a scam.

Should add that the email gives the correct BT contact number to call.

Hi @FredMel,

Thanks for bringing this to the Community!

I can confirm that this was sent out by us in error, with some old data, so it is fine to disregard this.
