Dementia

My dad has dementia and has moved to a residential home. He has broadband and a land line (albeit digital). Is it possible to cancel the landline and keep the broadband? His house must be sold to cover his Residential Home fees.

I can work from his house as I use a laptop and not have to take days off. This will enable me to get his house ready for sale.

I don't need all singing and dancing broadband, just enough to keep me going.

Can BT facilitate this?

Thanks

This is just a customer to customer help forum, everyone here, including myself, are just customers.

The only BT Employees are the forum moderators.

As the contract is not in your name, you would need to have a POA to make any changes.

Its not possible to cancel just the phone part of a contract, without starting a new contract. The difference in cost is only about £3-5, plus any call packages.

At this stage, it would be better to leave things as they are, until the house is sold, which of course would need a POA, or a deputyship order from the Court Of Protection.
