FTTP Available via other Openreach providers - EE / BT systems not updated?

Hi there,

Just looking for some advice as I can't seem to get anywhere with BT/EE.

EE/BT sent me emails and letters to say Full Fibre is available (FTTP) 6 weeks+ ago. When I check online to upgrade BT/EE say it isn't available.

Sky / Vodafone checkers allow me to order - but I am in contract with BT.

Have contacted Openreach who confirmed FTTP IS available at my address ..... and BT / EE are an Openreach backed service.

After a couple of chats with BT / EE I haven't got anywhere - is there a dept to contact in BT / EE that might be able to shed some light on why their checkers haven't been updated OR if they need to do more work (as Sky and Vodafone allow me to order)?

Thanks for any advice.

@yorkshirewookie

Use the address checker on the page below, and post the results, but edit out your address details first, but leave the exchange name and cabinet number showing.

Please include all notes at the bottom.

It’s possible your address needs the addressing details checked. Ask BT/EE to place an ORDI request, this should sort it.

It’s possible you have two NAD keys associated with the property.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply and advice. I have requested an ORDI and also checked and there is only one NAD Key and I have also checked the UPRN.

It feels like BT Wholesale? still need to do something at the exchange or their checkers as Openreach gave me this advice - but as I mention when you speak to the sales teams in BT / EE they cant tell you anything -

"When raising an order with your chosen provider, please make them aware of a cable link issue. Your provider will need to resolve this by completing additional works at the exchange before providing you with Ultrafast Fibre service. You can provide them with the following information- No cable link available on the Specified L2S ID. Please raise a cable link request via sales tool."

I searched and found other people raising the same issue in other areas and ending up ordering from Sky etc as they got nowhere with BT.

I am just not sure if this is BT/EE only hence why Vodafone / Zen / Sky all allow me to place an order.

Thanks

Alex

Re: FTTP Available via other Openreach providers - EE / BT systems not updated?

All the BT group owned providers such as BT, EE, PlusNet all use BT Groups owned BT Wholesale backhaul equipment at the exchanges around the country whereas other providers may have their own equipment at the exchange and therefore don't rely on BT Wholesale.

Essentially BT Wholesale also need to order and connect their equipment via a cablelink between Openreach's FTTP hand-off equipment ( OTL/LTS) at the exchange to BT Wholesale's backhaul point of handover equipment.

Re: FTTP Available via other Openreach providers - EE / BT systems not updated?

Thanks.

That makes sense - the challenge is trying to find out what is going on.

This sounds like a common problem with BT where they market their customers to say FTTP is available and then havent done the additional work (BTW) AND are unable to tell customers when.

Looks like its a case of waiting.

Thanks for everyone's info.

Alex
