How do I link an email to a BT account so I can create a BT ID?

I'm trying to set up a BT ID for my parents, but when going through the "Create BT ID" process I enter the account holders name & address etc it can't verify because they don't have an email address linked to their BT Account.

How do I link an email address to their account?
