I moved to EE and it was fine

I recently posted over on the EE Forums about my experience of migrating my BT services to EE, it went well, here is the post:

https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Contracts-Billing/Migration-from-BT-FF-900Mbps-EETV-gt-EE-FF-900Mbps-E...

Seen so many people posting really bad experiences, thought I would post a good one.

It's still sad that an expectation becomes an achievement.

Out of interest is it truly like for like?  Because BT throw in Norton security wheres EE cyber protection is £6 monthly.

I also think people dont post good news.

Sorry to say I didnt track all of the addons perfectly like that, I only paid attention to what I was migration, IE just FF900 and EETV, none of those addons would be relevant to me really.

Re: I moved to EE and it was fine

When I wanted to upgrade my EE mobile a year ago EE moved my broadband and TV to EE. It went without a hitch and resulted in a cost saving. People generally post in forums when there's a problem.

I don't understand the 'don't move to EE....' comments myself, my view is that it's the level of competence of BT/EE staff generally that's the problem, and that's the same for every service. 3 years ago it took 2 weeks and several phone calls just to renew my BT broadband. BT and EE do have a lot to answer for in their mish mash of systems, you can only order this if you're a 'new' EE customer etc, but the level of customer service has declined, and that's a common problem across most businesses.

If moving customers to EE were the only problem then this forum would be almost dormant, it's far from that.

The truth is Andy two weeks and several phone calls to renew is a testament to your patience. 99.9% would have said "sod this I'm off" at that point.

@Kodikid  Like most things these days, it works for the majority. It's down to investment and training. When there's a problem CS often don't have the knowledge and experience to solve it first time.

Could be argued that broadband renewal is generally not considered a problem

The same can be said for moving to EE, it's not a problem until it happens to you. This forum existed long before any involvement with EE, so BT problems have existed for a long time, whatever the category.

My question is, who here believes that when you call BT Customer Services, you're actually speaking to BT employees?

I personally believe that with some utility companies, it's a drone in an outsourced call centre with little knowledge of the product they're being asked to answer questions on. I was a customer of a utility company whose call centre is located in Cape Town, South Africa. They're not employees of the utility company I used to be with, they just have access to people's accounts. They try and help where they can, otherwise, as I found out when they couldn't handle the situation, the call just got batted back to some poor soul in the UK who really didn't want to engage with the customer because they've got an outsourced company thousands of miles away that are supposed to do that.

I moved from BT to Plusnet because I can't be bothered with talking to some drone in a dreary call centre who literally seems to be employed to upsell products I don't want or need and actually most likely knows very little about BT's products. It's just a job to them, you phone, they talk and sometimes little is achieved. I don't doubt that some customers are happy with their customer service experiences, let's face it, there are some customers here who have been with BT for apparently, decades, supposedly perfectly happy.

I hope your move to EE remains as positive and trouble free as my own move was.

Re: I moved to EE and it was fine

@Kodikid just my option but I have always found Norton not to be as good as McAfee.

I only took the  anti virus from BT as it came free,

Since I relpaced my over 6  year old Windows 10 laptop about a year ago  as it was playing to  a McBook Air. I dont have an anti virus like Norton or McAfee on my McBook Air.
