I would just try it, if the computer says no at least you tried and have got a definitive answer. It should work even if the surname is the same because the initials are different. Nothing ventured nothing gained - it's like two close relatives living in the same house and one cancels and the other wants a new contract with BT.
Just a thought you may not be getting the new contract with BT but with EE. I re-contracted today but it had to be with EE, wasn't allowed to use BT!!
Er no
It's your choice
No one has to enlist with EE
Unfortunately I was and asking another person at BT she said that BT are still migrating people although I should have been given an explanation and possibly the option. She agreed the original advisor should have been more helpful and understanding but as the order had been processed I would be unable to return to BT.
What a load of bull poo
There is literally no reason at all why you can't "rejoin " BT
You have been deceived and missold a broadband service
Either way you have 14 days cooling off
But if you're happy with EE go for it
Earlier in the thread, you asked what what Plusnet was like. Plusnet are just like BT with no frills, no phone service but cheaper. There is zero difference in quality of service in provision of broadband. I’ve personally never had an issue with them and this is coming from someone who has flip flopped between BT and Plusnet for over a decade.
@conrad I don’t understand why you would let someone at BT talk you into migrating to EE if you didn’t want to? All you had to do was say ‘No’ You could have at any stage of the call stopped what you were doing and ended it there and then. But it seems you chose not to?
If you’re not happy being rebadged as a EE customer, then try as previously advised, cancel under the 14 day cooling off period and tell them why. Be careful what say though as the call will have been recorded, so make sure you remember what was said.
Have spoken to someone in the EE value team about what happened and he apologised for what happened. He said that he could put me back onto BT as a working line takeover but I would be treated as a new customer for setting up the BT side of things. He appreciated that I didn't like change and the way I had been treated. He said that if I wanted to stay with EE he could reduce the broadband charge from £34.99 to £28.99 which starts a new cooling off period for so I could spend a bit more time getting used to the EE site and I could still move back to BT within the 14 days if I wanted so I am staying with EE at the moment.
Normally I do put my foot down but have no idea why I didn't this time.
@conrad Reads like you got the right result. Well done 👍
@Kimberlin Thanks - the advisor was sensitive to my personal needs and was willing to spend as much time as I needed to slowly go through everything so I am now happier even though I struggle with change - the price drop helped but I was also put off by being a effectively being a new BT customer with new account numbers etc so I thought I might as well give EE a go.
Just seen I've been upgraded to Guru on my last day with BT 😀
@conrad There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you continuing to contribute here, it isn’t a closed shop, I’m with Plusnet, but in all honesty, BT, EE and Plusnet are all basically the same anyway.
