Hi. I have been trying to close my broadband/tv account all morning, but can't get through on the phone. Is there another way please? Seems odd in 2024 to have to speak to someone in order to leave BT. Thanks.
No, phone is the only way.
However, if you are leaving to move to another supplier that used the Openreach network, do not contact BT. The new supplier does that when you place an order with them.
Tried that - saying that a call is the only way. Really is poor in 2024. Maybe something else that Ofcom should look into?
If the gaining provider is onboarded onto OTS then I believe even if they use non Openreach infrastructure they still send a notification to the loosing provider about your request moving to them

Agreed. If you can sign up to a service online it should be compulsory to allow cancellation of that service online.
Have you a local BT/EE shop? If so call in.
