I pay £76 a month for a halo3 smart hub2 fiber2 with a download speed of 62-73Mbps on 2 contract. This contract is not upgradable and if I recontract I have been quote by BT for a upgrade package that looks exactly the same package I already have. I can upgrade now for £83 per month I actuly have 12 month left on my present contract so why should have a new one now which looks exactly the same as what I already have. However on the terms of both contact s is that I will not pay any as an existing ustmer than what a new customer will pay. However for exactly the same package that is fibre 2 with same seed as mine 24 month contract a new Customer at my address will only pay £26.99 month I know this is fact as I went on to BT website and put in my address without logging in and that is one of options I was quoted as a new customer I have screen of this which I will add to this post.I should add as a new customer at my address there is no pack being offered for £83 like mine or not. Therefore if the contract says I should not be paying any more than new customers why am paying so much more. Surly if I take up this upgrade package I should only pay £26,99 the same as a new customer.
It's the HALO extras that are causing the excessive monthly fee and lack of upgrade or downgrade options.
You will need to call Retentions and politely ask to remove Halo, then log an official complaint and try to get it escalated to the Executive Team. Then and only then are you likely to see a 'reasonable' offer to remain with BT.
If you have no specific loyalty to BT or landline requirement, just leave ASAP.
@davedrizen Exactly. As has been explained countless times on the forum, you are comparing apples and oranges.
You are not comparing like for like as the new cost do not include the expensive extra of halo 3. As halo is an add-on you should be able to ask for that to be removed but from other posts that does not happen easily. You will have to be persistent before BT will remove it. You are in contract for another 12 months so BT have no incentive to reduce your broadband only cost as leaving will incur early termination costs
Is it possible you could upgrade to full fibre 150 and get better cost which would mean a new 24 month contract
Thank you for you reply as I said above I am only half way though 2 year contract so I can’t actually leave BT another year any way but BT have offered my a up grade package now that looks exactly the same as what I already have only difference is the they are calling a whole home and they will give me WiFi disc to improve any poor spots in my home. But I have have not got any so there will be nothing extra for me but the higher price but when my present contract ends if I want to say with BT I will have take as they tell my prest contract is not renewable. So I will wait til the end of my contract and do what you suggest tell them if I can’t have the same contract as a new customer quoting what is about it paying any more that new customers pay I will go else where and get a cheaper deal there is plenty out there.
But they don’t offer halo to new customers as my exercise proves only existing ones and for the like of me I can’t see what halo customer gets that a non halo don’t. They both get the same hub a smart hub 2 because if you have an older one you have no way of connecting your land line these days so therefore we both get the same service even getting 4g if the broadband fails because built in to smart hub 2
No, 4g is not built into the hub, you need a hybrid connect device which is continuously available for Halo 3+ customers and on request for Halo 3 customers.
