New contract period if I downgrade my Calling Plan?

I only use BT for my landline rental/phone and am "Out of Contract" on the "Unlimited Minutes" Calling Plan. If I now decide to downgrade to the "700 Anytime Minutes" Calling Plan, will this automatically start a new contract and if so for what length of time?

It would depend which 'unlimited minute' calling plan you have, the legacy version still allows you to have evening/weekend calls and weekend calls, the new version allows you to have 700 minutes or PAYG, moving the calling plan won't come with a new calling plan unless you have a legacy plan and want the new calling plans, in which case a 12 month minimum term will apply.
