Picking new broadband

My Husband and I have recently moved into a new property (rented) we are currently with Vodafone however we were unable to be connected as our landlady didn't want the work done for new fibre cables (which we understand)

Can someone help give guidance on which new plan to pick with BT that will allow us to have broadband through the cooper cabling please ?

Just very confusing

Thanks

@Abster24

Welcome to this user forum for BT Residential phone and broadband customers.

Use the address checker on the page below, and post the results, but edit out your address details first, but leave the exchange name and cabinet number showing.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Also include all notes at the bottom of that page, as they may indicate that fibre has priority.

Re: Picking new broadband

Be aware you may not have choice, it may well be fibre or nothing.

Your Landlady needs to get herself into the 21st century if she wants to continue letting the property.

Re: Picking new broadband

You may find that if FTTP is now available ( but your landlord won’t allow the tiny amount of work needed to install it ) then it’s not just VF that won’t be able to proceed, but any provider…generally once FTTP is available it’s the default network for new orders and using the redundant copper pair service becomes impossible.

@Abster24

As WBC FTTP (Full Fibre) is available that service will takes priority over FTTC (hybrid fibre) and therefore BT may decide to provide broadband to you over FTTP (Full Fibre) rather than using the FTTC infrastructure.

As already explained, fibre is going to be the only option. Its fed through a tiny duct.

Ask your landlady to look at this page, and view the video.

It only involves a small amount of work.

Re: Picking new broadband

You can still take BT FTTC if you ask for in areas where FTTP is offered but they will try and offer you FTTP. As they want most homes too have FTTP in areas that has it and hope to in years to come slowly phase out FTTC. In the same why the are now phasing out normal ADSL broadband up to 20mb speeds.
Also to bear in mind that you may be asked to change to digital voice service or digital talk as some ISP companies call it. If you take out a new broadband package.

I myself may have too get FTTC when it comes to my part of the street in September/October. As my  FTTC contract with another ISP will be near renewal by then.

I fully left BT 15 months ago. After being with then over 20 years for internet and over 30 years for phone service.
