Re: Elderly relative sold outrageously inappropriate contract

Hi there,

My elderly mother has also recently signed up to a similar contract for 24 months, she did it online by herself and is now locked in at £70 a month. Is there anyway you could help/suggest a way to at least reduce it?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Elderly relative sold outrageously inappropriate contract

If she did the order herself on line , then it ( obviously ) can’t be mis-sold, no one sold it to her , however there is a cooling off period, so if it were not that long ago the option to cancel may exist, if it were too long ago to do that , then there’s not much that can be done .

If it’s £70 a month , then presumably much more than just low speed broadband that’s been  ordered  , if it’s inappropriate what’s been ordered , but no sales person involved, it’s hard to argue any impropriety.

£70 would be lot just for a low speed broadband connection ( BT charge around £30 for 50 Mb broadband ) but if you add ( for example ) a telephone service with  unlimited calls , WiFi extenders , unbreakable WiFi ( 4g back up ) etc, etc , then it’s not an unreasonable sum , obviously it can still be inappropriate for her needs though , but was self selected.

Hi @EmmaB24

Welcome to the community.

If your Mother speaks with our Customer Care team, they'll be able to look into it and discuss it with her. If she would like to nominate you as a caller, or call when she's with you and pass the phone over, they'll be able to discuss it with you too.

Chris
