Re: Price Rise with New Contract

Go to solution

Dear NeilO,

I have just signed up to a new 24 month contract for £67.54 a month and have not only noticed that my March payment is going up by about 70p but have also had an email telling me that I am about to get a price hike of £9.82 a month, is this correct?

I have broadband and unlimited calling as a package.

Any clarification on this?

Hi @PennysPop

Yes, because you signed up before the 1st March, and will be subject to the 14.4% price increase from the first of April. Note there is nothing to say that if you waited until after the 1st March the price would have not included the £9.82 increase.

Okay, thanks for the response VeteranISPUser,
It's more than a little disappointing, especially as I was trying to be proactive on the cost of living increases everywhere else...

BT are one of the companies that are putting bills up the most this time round.

Im in the process of moving my BT FTTC to Sky for a similar package.

It might not be correct, at the bottom of the price change email it will state the increase is based on the services you had on a certain date, check if that was before or after your renewal.

You can work out your increase by looking at www.bt.com/prices

Thanks Ney,
It looks like Sky would be a better option for me too but I've heard such terrible customer service stories from friends and work colleagues that I wouldn't touch them with a cattle prod.
Just have to see what happens going forwards.
Regards.

You can view the order via www.bt.com/MyBT or by checking your email for the confirmation.

I’d be surprised if a price hike wasn’t reflected in any re-contracting price after 1st March. But then I’ve been surprised before!

For new contracts the price is clearly shown on the order confirmation email.
