I left BT on June 17th 2024 and i have yet to receive the refund that is owed, on checking my account it says Money refunded to you £9.33 refund June 25th but nothing has gone in to my bank account and i haven't received a cheque either(which i expected as i cancelled my Direct debit when my service ceased).
It's good practice to cancel DDs when no longer required but not before any outstanding refund is received. BT use that route. It's reasonable to expect a cheque instead but not surprising that you need to jump through hoops. I suggest you call Customer Service on 0330 123 4150.
Normally i would have left the direct debit in place, however the agent i spoke to when i called to cancel my services told me to cancel it once my services stopped as no final bill should have been due as the cancellation date was just 4 days after my last bill was paid, this was obviously not correct as i received a final bill 14 days later showing the refund.
I'll give customer service a call in the morning to see what's going on.
