BT contacted me on 16 October, 2024, recommending that I switch from my BT 900 HALO3+ to EE broadband. I contacted the help line and was told that I can’t switch as I have a contract with BT. I was also told that EE couldn’t provide a better service than my current deal, ie nothing cheaper or faster - which is at odds with what is advertised on line. Has anyone made a penalty free and simple switch from BT to a faster and cheaper EE service? What problems were experienced?
BT contacted me yesterday recommending that I switch to from BT to EE broadband. I rang the suggested call centre and was told that I couldn’t switch as I have a BT contract until 2026. I was also told that the EE offers don’t provide a better service than my current BT broadband arrangement - although the EE website does show some broadband deals offering cheaper contracts and improved speeds. It appears that BT and EE are left and right hands with limited capacity to manage their new arrangements.
if you look through the forum you will see many posts about moving from BT to EE. some customers were moved when they phoned to renew others to a new EE package not all were cheaper and many had significant problems with the move. how long do you have left on existing BT contract?
I merged your 2 posts to avoid confusion and in answer to my question with contract just not long renewed and end date 2026 I would just sit tight with BT
My contract with BT ended earlier last month, also with Halo 3+ broadband (also with TNT Sports and Nowtv addons), was very nervous about phoning up to renew as i guessed i would be migrated to EE and after reading all the stories here, was not very anxious to go ahead, but as any discounts i had would be ending thought i had better give it a go. As i thought, was indeed migrated to EE, got my broadband for £20 less than i was paying to BT (including the discount), everything do far (touch wood!) has gone very smoothly with the migration to EE, there was a slight query i had about my first bill, so a kind advisor agreed with me and has given me a free month of nowtv because of the issue, just hope everything carries on running as smooth as it has!
I got a "recontract early and keep existing price" offer which was good as I already had a good deal. With five months left I could see a big increase coming up.
Call and was told I would move over to EE - but with an added second tv box they offer £4pm reduction.
All went smoothly except I had to call to get AppleTV+ activated as the EE app doesn't work very well.
I have a family SIMonly contract with 2 SIMs and Halo3+ Broadband. I get periodic nudges about switching. Last time I checked with a call centre, EE couldn't give me a better price.
I've just had another nudge by email. Just from looking at the EE website, it looks as if I could get comparable broadvand speeds (which I would hope!) for a bit cheaper but it's difficult to tease apart the mobile offerings. I may have to phone them <aaarrgghhh>
BUT, there's one feature of Halo3+ which doesn't seem to feature in EE's offerings - the Hybrid Connect. This has been really useful for me. Does anyone know if EE has an equivalent?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
