SHOULD I SWITCH FROM BT BROADBAND TO EE?

I switched free by visiting the EE shop. However,  I find nd that the EE broadband is slower than I got from BT and rarely meets the contracted download speed. I paid an extra £4 a month to increase speeds but they are still not meeting the promised speed.  As I am paying £56 per month and they have broken the contract I am looking elsewhere

Apart from the fact that you are posting on an 18month old post, I fail to see how changing from BT to EE can impact your speed. The laws of physics don't change with change of provider.

That’s what I thought, especially as EE use the same equipment. Perhaps BT didn’t meet the contracted speeds. I am not a large user just two mobiles and a kindle plus the apps on Sky TV so I assume that these companies assess your usage and provide the level of service that you require. I will still be looking for a cheaper deal even if it is still with EE or BT.

BT does not "assess your usage and provide the level of service you require".

If you are on a FTTC package you will get to best speed that your line can support which if it can support more than the top speed of your package it will be capped at the top speed of the package you have paid for.

If your line can only support a lower speed than than the package you have paid for, regardless of which package that is, you will only get the speed the line supports.

If you are on a FTTP package you will get the speed that you are paying for. ie 500mbps package you will get 500mbps speed.

the devices which you are using are all wifi and there is no guarantee on download speed -  only guarantee is speed to your router.  have you any device you can connect to hub by ethernet?
