Second Line Query

The other people in my house had a new modem installed today. How do I go about getting a second dedicated line on a separate contract that I pay for separately from theirs? Do I have to phone? As I'm no good at talking on phones. Makes me super anxious. I'd much rather be able to just do it all online without affecting their contract. Is that doable at all? If so, how do I go about it?

Re: Second Line Query

Are you a current BT Consumer customer?

Are you on full fibre or copper based fibre to the cabinet service?

Re: Second Line Query

I myself am not a current customer. However, as stated in the post, other people in the house are. And the package they are on is full fibre.

Re: Second Line Query

Nothing preventing you from ordering another line from BT or any other provider. Just make sure that whoever you order from knows that it is for a second line and not to take over the existing line.

Bear in mind it will be a 2 year contract.

Re: Second Line Query

If it's Openreach full fibre infrastructure that is currently serving the property then I believe Openreach have a policy for 1 ONT per property.

If you wanted another account to the same property you would need to make sure the ONT was replaced with multi port ONT that would allow 2 different providers/accounts using the same ONT.

You would also need to make sure it was a second connection rather than taking over the current connection that is already in place
