Sign out of website

Go to solution

Hi I saw that someone had posted that the data team had been working on a fix for signing out since 2024… I tried to find the sign out and it is not easily visible whatsoever. I clicked the link from my mail to the website and cannot find it and want to be able to sign out. It is a data protection issue that I want my private information to be kept as safe as possible (that is if I was able to edit the wrong information that is on there.. but that’s another subject… total incompetence for which I’m paying for.) That I’m having to ask people who also pay for BT rather than BT itself!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ my broadband has not been working since the evening of Wednesday 2nd of April so I will be without it for almost a week by the time they fix it.

I think your frustration is coming through in your question! The main BT account sign-in and sign-out under the "My-BT" menu work just fine for me. I don't have an email, though, which probably needs a different account name and password. When account details are incorrectly set up, there's often no other sensible option than to make a phone call to support.

If you are using a web page, to log out of your MyBT page you just hover over the MyBT button at the top of the page, this will open a drop down box and you click on the "Log out" button.

If you want to log out of your BTMail email account you click on your username at the top right hand side. This will open a drop down box and you then click on the "Sign Out" button.

It has been that way for some time and certainly longer that 2024 and as far as I am aware there was no problem with it.

If however you are using the MyBT app on a mobile device, to log out click on the "more" button. It has three dots. This will open a new page and if you scroll down to the foot of the page you will see  "Log Out". Click on that and a new box will open asking you to confirm you want to log out and assuming you do, click on "Log Out".  You will then be notified that you are now logged out.

Nope does not work if you are using mobile phones, to log into account from web site. It does on the app but not the phone.

Ended up closing page and then tried to log in, and it obviously clears that page, as it asks for log in details. Why is it so difficult for BT to make a logout button available on mobile phones!

Same here, and there does not seem to be a solution yet.

On the Android App, it should be as simple as hitting the "... More" button on the bottom toolbar and then scrolling down to Log Out - which is highlighted in red!

I found out in portrait mode button is not showing on iPhone, but in landscape mode it shows so managed to log out ok. Strange it shows on the app, only when you log in via web site in portrait mode do you lose it! Still at least it does work.

So, a little bit of research on this.  On Android, when you close the MyBT app it won't continue to run in the background anyhow, and so it closes the connection!  This is not the same as the "BT WiFi" app, which has background processes and continues to run in the background.

@Crimliar

There is no BTWifi app. You now need log on wth a browser to EEWifi.
