I would be extremely surprised if BT will supply a landline only via FTTP, it would be economic madness for them to utilise a slot on the PON for just voice, let alone having to supply an ONT and Hub2 as well.
This sounds more like business usage and not residential?
what's the difference nowadays ?
What's the difference between what?
Its totally different, BT Business use Cloud Voice, where calls are dealt with centrally, and can be diverted to either IP phones, or a special application on a mobile.
Calls are still carried over the IP network, but its a true VOIP solution without any analogue presentation, unless a special ATA adapter is purchased.

Its more suited for business usage, whereas the residential service is not intended for business use.
Hi @_steve If you have reliable 5G broadband then have you considered a VOIP service. I changed my BT landline number to Voipfone and have never looked back. Many more features like voicemail instantly delivered by email etc.
As BT have a telephone USO , and the address already has FTTP fitted, then it’s not going to be debatable if BT can not choose not to supply telephony , the only issue is how the ‘landline’ telephony will be supplied in an all IP world, using the existing FTTP network is now the default network , it doesn’t affect the availability of FTTP for others as capacity is provided for all addresses.
As the OP states the idea is to divert incoming calls to the landline number ,to one of a couple of mobile numbers , bearing in mind as a new landline customer, the new landline number will have no history or association with the OP yet , wanting a landline seems even stranger , if the OP already had a landline number that was widely known, or had various ‘adverts’ quoting a landline number , or have a client list and those clients use a particular already known landline number , that’s one thing , but obviously even the OP won’t know yet , what landline number that will eventually be allocated to the landline ,
It seems strange, who is going to call this yet to be allocated landline number , why wouldn’t who ever is going to call the landline simply be asked to call the mobile number instead ?
The BT Residential T&Cs forbid the use of the service for any trade, business or profession. Apart from that, I would not consider a residential service reliable enough for business usage, especially with BT Digital Voice and some of its reported issues.
