Social Tariffs changes in April 2026

Go to solution

I've had an email from BT saying my package will change from April. I'm on Home Essentials Fibre 2, but it's changing to a slower speed (download of 37mb), and a monthly 15gb limit from April.

With an avid gamer in the house, and a disabled husband, this seems to be saying I have to go onto a full priced package to continue with the service I get now.

Has anyone else had the same issue with their social tariff ?

According to this price update there should be no increase in the home essential package - scroll down to broadband

Are you sure this was a genuine email and not some attempted fraud/scam ?

It's not the price that's changing, it's the service I'll get

Never heard of any current BT ‘landline’ broadband package including the social tariff ones having any sort of download bandwidth limit ….
