I'm constantly getting an error when trying to setup gamepass..
I've found the correct page on my account and have gone through the 'terms and condition' page etc and then it takes me to a page saying the system is down for maintenance?!
Can one of the mods please have a look at my account and let me know the how i can activate this offer, Thanks

Thanks for coming to the community and making us aware you have been unable to activate the Xbox Game Pass.
We have no account access on the community to check your account and see why this is not activating for you.

I rang the number yesterday and they said they couldn't do anything and I'd have to contact the Xbox team at Microsoft!!
I just need the BT offer activated as the email for Gamepass didn't get sent when my network was installed. Can you arrange for the offer email to be sent out again?

Ok, I tried again and got through to someone who knew how to fix this, hopefully I'll get an email soon with the activation code.

I have had exactly the same problem as the original poster. After encountering the same error message for days I eventually accepted I would need to call the helpdesk number. After waiting an hour on hold I spoke to a nice lady who said a) she would send activation details directly to the email address I provided (she has not, this has not arrived) and b) the error message on the BT website would in any case be fixed later today (it has not).
I would greatly appreciate someone providing a response or suggested next steps that does not involve me calling a helpdesk number and waiting 1 hour + in a queue (something I have already done with no successful output). Is there not someone I can simply email my details to and they can sort this out? This feels like an extremely straightforward thing to fix, to provide me with a service I have already paid for. Your assistance would be very much appreciated - many thanks in advance

Welcome to the BT Community
With the Xbox game pass activation, at the moment you do need to call to activate, when you call an agent will send on your details to our Xbox team who will then send out an activation code to your e-mail address within 7 working days of the form being sent.
I am not sure when you called, but based on what you are saying it does sound like this is what the agent has done albeit without setting the correct timescale expectation.
