Unable to move from BT broadband to EE broadband

Go to solution

Have been trying for days to try and migrate across without success. Finally got an answer today stating that because i happen to have BT fttp 900 with Halo3+ that i cannot move across.Yet again a longstanding customer having a top package is penalised, contract is to June 2025 so if BT are wanting to join EE I think they need to reassess their policies as to who can and cannot move. This is nowhere to be found in any publicity info i have seen and people should be aware before spending so much time on phone and chats. If anyone has other info please let me know.

Re: Unable to move from BT broadband to EE broadband

It's being done in stages with the least complex accounts being offered first, originally it was phone and broadband customers only, customers with BTTV had to wait, now EE TV is live you can move with phone, broadband and TV.

Halo3+ adds extra complexity as you have complete wi-fi discs and the hybrid connect addon, which includes it's own mobile number for when it's in failover mode, the last thing you want is for things to go wrong, especially as you said, you have the top package.

It might be frustrating but it's done to avoid issues, it will happen soon, just have to be a tad more patient for now 🙂

"customers with BTTV had to wait, now EE TV is live you can move with phone, broadband and TV."

nope, @-Richie- not a thing yet... Customers with BTTV, now EETV can't simply port from BT to EE...

Perhaps, I have on top of it Halo 3+, and never was told, as the problem is with Halo3+, but as it's not possible, because I have TV, regardless, as it's now EE TV, but it's in fact BTTV, with incompatible system, and some logo here and there as EE.

Instead, I was taken onto the route, as new EE Broadband is taking over my existing BT Broadband, with loss of DV, EETV and not porting, for now, my BT Mobile, with later, once (hopefully) this will be live, we will go to activate new EETV on my new EE ID, and port my BT Mobile to EE.

Complicated? Risky? yes, but if at least it will work, ok, whatever...

@ritchie thanks for the excellent explanation and hopefully when and if the changeover can happen it will be of benefit to me.I have been very pleased with my BT broadband with no issues and see no reason EE will be any different if the system is still under BT ifrastructure.Fingers crossed it will be sooner rather than later.

Re: Unable to move from BT broadband to EE broadband

Been on with EE to move broadband across, unable to do so I have been told as account is showing TV active on my account, call BT….Called BT checked your account there is NO TV active on your account only broadband and Ultimate game pass which is an add on.

Feel stuck in limbo EE cannot do it as their system wont let them and BT cannot offer EE broadband.

Anyone any ideas or any fix?

@-Richie-

EE do have equivalents though.

They have a smart WiFi device that works like the complete WiFi discs and they do the hybrid connect.

The Hybrid Connect I have from BT with halo 3+ is EE branded

It seems more that staff aren't properly trained and/or the computer systems just aren't ready to migrate people properly

I know they do, however compatibility and a continuation of the service is a factor, along with number porting, some services need a new ONT replacement, it's not as simple as people pressing a button.
As I said, the easier journeys are being made now, more complex will come shortly.

It may be that it depends on what is available locally.  Take myself.  CityFibre has been RFS here for a year now.  Virgin also upped their game to compete with full fibre.  Openreach?  Missing in action or more realistically missing – inaction.  If I’m forced to commit to a two-year contact by a compulsory move it won’t be with BT.

It might be someone up top is savvy enough to have worked out that there may be quite a few people that feel the same way.
