Upgrade to Full Fibre (FTTP) and Current Inclusive Landline Minutes Plan

Go to solution

I’m currently on an FTTC Broadband plan at £29.82pm, which is due for renewal at the end of April 2023. I have looked at BT Broadband current offers and it seems I can now upgrade Broadband to FTTP Full Fibre 2 (74mb download/20mb upload) for £29.99pm on a 24m contract. Full Fibre went live locally a couple of weeks ago and I know the Fibre Optical cable is installed to the street cabinet adjacent to the end of my driveway.

My query is that when I get to the page of the application that covers the landline part of the plan, the screen correctly shows that I currently have the 700 Anytime minutes plan, but I am confused by where it gives two options, one to go for the ‘recommended’ 700 minutes plan at £7.50pm, or the other to continue my current plan (no extra cost?). If I follow this latter option, the summary quote is £29.99pm with 2 years of £8.00pm discount, but it doesn’t specifically mention continuation of the 700 minutes. Ticking the option of 700 Anytime minutes does, however, show the extra payment of £7.50pm.

Obviously, I would like to keep the cost down without cancelling the landline, so wish to know whether ticking the ‘Keep Current’ option would continue the Plan as it is now, but for the further two years (plus the usual annual price hikes).

If you can now upgrade to full fibre FTTP then I would phone the FTTP TEAM 08005874787 and see what you can negotiate to upgrade your package to FTTP

Thanks for your suggestion. I called BT earlier today and was able to 'negotiate' an acceptable FTTP upgrade package, which is due to be installed early February. Not quite a straightforward process because the initial order acknowledgement didn't include the Digital Voice element. A subsequent call to BT resulted in them cancelling the original 'deal' and initiating a fresh one with the desired features included. Just means a delay of a day in Openreach completing the installation, which is not an issue.

So your help is much appreciated.
