Upgrading

Go to solution

Hi all,

My contract is ending next month and I've been sent emails with offers to upgrade or renew from BT. I have looked at these offers and there's an offer for exactly what I have now, minus calls which I don't need anyway, for a cheaper price than I currently pay. When going to check out, do I need to set the new package activation date to match the end of my current contract date? For example, at current, the checkout has selected today, the 28th of March as my activation date. My current contract doesn't end until the 23rd of April, so would I need to change the activation date to the 23rd of April?

Thanks in advance, apologies too, I'm not the most confident with this part of the process.

Re: Upgrading

I could be wrong but as far as I am aware your "new" contract will start as from the date that you agree to the new contract. ie today if you take out the package today. You can not take out the new package now and have it start at the end of your present contract.

You could call BT Billing 0330.1234.150 who should be able to clarify and give the correct answer.

@gg30340

I am not quite sure if what you are saying is correct?

I received the usual renew your package at the current price back in Janury even though my existing contact was not due to end until early March.  I took up the offer back in January and set it to start when my existing contact ended.

I'm just looking at my order summary on My BT and it says clearly

Contract terms

Package - 24 months from ** Mar 2025

Your new broadband and package contract started on

** Mar 2025

It doesn't say it started when I placed the order.

** being the actual date whch I have hidden

@allanraymond

As I said, I could be wrong hence my suggestion to call BT to get it confirmed.

BT like to keep you as long as possible.  Your new contact for 24 months will start when your previous bi annual deal finishes
