Why am I being charged £330.32 to end my contract

Go to solution

Hi - have managed to find a cheaper Broadband provider so would like to end my contact with BT.  Just received a text message telling me that I will owe £330.32 to end contract. For what exactly ?

You'll be in a contract for a set period of time so there will be charges for ending it early

Assuming that you are in a contract that still has time to run with BT you are being charged for breaking that contract because you are leaving before the contract time span has ended.

The cost of breaking the contract is generally the amount you would have paid during the remaining time left on the contract.

BT Terms and conditions are in this link

The Early Termination of the contract is set out in this link

Thanks a lot for your response, very useful.  Would you happen to know how I find out my length of contract or when it expires/renews ?
