i keep getting texts to my phone mentioning a "2 step verification and maybe you should change your password" ive not contacted BT at all asking them for a 2 step verification are these texts a scam?
Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.
It could be to do with setting up of 2 step verification on MyBT, if you have not already done that, or it could be a scam.
Provided it does not give you a link to click on, or a PIN number, then simply read and delete it.
If there is a link or PIN, the its a scam, do not click on any link, and simply delete the message.
Then it may simply be a recommendation from BT, to setup 2 stage verification.
Its possible they have seen logons from more that one device, and they may not all belong to you.
They can send also emails about suspicious activity on your account.
BT would never send you a link to click on. You may get a PIN, but only if you had requested a password reset, not anybody else.
