new deals

Hi all

We currently have BT Halo 3 with landline 56.76 month plus 700 mins 9.25 total £66.01 month.

Our contract runs out In June 24.  I have  had different conversations about when to change to Full fibre with BT in our case get rid of landline as not used so a saving of £9.25 month also do not want digital phones, mobiles are OK for us.

Going back the date to start making enquiries about this change, BT always give conflicting advise, one said call in March 24 this was way back in Jan 24 as they have better deals for BT customers if you call earlier than needed.  Yes did this and was told this was untrue and to call back last week of May 24 which we may do.

Another operator said call back when your existing contract expires  so you are classed as "out of contract" and you have more bargaining power  as you can leave BT without penalty and for them to keep you as a customer  we have been with them 42 years  we can say how come you are offering   new customers FF 300 for £32.99 and FF500 for £34.99 but your saying our price is the same as now minus the 9.25 for 700 mins = 56.76, very unfair to say the least.  Yes I know this is probably an introductory offer and the price hike will happen in 12 months.

Surely they will back down and give some  kinbd of price nearer to what new customers have?

Appreciate replies on this and price of what you pad before FF and after FF

Re: new deals

Thanks, we always call retentions team over the years, these are the ones giving conflicting info.  So in your opinion is it best to call before renewal date or after, in the past we have called just before.

Re: new deals

Call with a view to a cancellation to switch provider rather than a renewal - if they know you are going to stay you'll often not get the best option for you.

Also when you get a good offer ask them to note it as you may call back to take it up but you want to look at other options.

I was once given three different deals this way and if you decide to stay you can give the date of the best offer.

If is normal with all the providers than a cancelations deal can only be done a month before.
