wifi

Hi, am currently coming to completion of a house renovation project (bungalow) and want to use an existing phone extension wire to connect a wireless router. The wire runs from the main incoming phoneline which is in a bedroom with an old CableTel box fitted. From what I can see only 3 wires are used in the extension which runs to what is now the hallway, no box fitted, just bare wire end. I'm pretty sure the wire is good, have traced most of it from the bedroom  through the loft and to its current location and all appears damage free.  Also, I have no idea what the original phone number for the property was, seller mentioned that the line from Virgin Media was disconnected several years ago, have no intention of using again as a landline just the router.

So, questions are, can and how do I use the extension wire ? how do I get the line reconnected? is all this DIY possible?

TIA

Regards

Nick

Re: wifi

@NickRider1

First, you need to place an order for a phone/broadband connection.

As you have posted on a BT Retail Customer Forum, I assume you want to use BT.

https://www.bt.com/tv/packages

The original phone number is irrelevant, as a new one will be issued, and Openreach will fit a new master socket in a location you choose where possible. Extension wiring is your responsibility.

If you do not intend to use BT, then please can you post on your chosen provider`s user forum.

Thanks
