BT Virus protect

On my new PC, it says under BT Security that BT Virus protect is switched on, yet in my list of apps, Norton does not appear. Mcafee does appear. Is it possible new PC arrived with Mcafee loaded, which I now need to uninstall and try loading BT Virus Protect?

Re: BT Virus protect

Yes. If you check the specs of your new PC you will no doubt find that McAffee came bundled with it. You will  need to uninstall it if it has been activated and probably run the McAfee Removal Tool to clear it out completely.

Re: BT Virus protect

Thanks, this is what I thought, however I was concerned that BT was saying in one place that I already had Norton activated, which it was not. I eventually managed to find the details of which devices I had protected, which didn't include my new device. I removed my defunct device from the list  and initiated  adding a new device - received an email, which when activated requested me to remove Mcafee before installing Norton. Having done both, My list of apps now includes Norton but not Mcafee. There seems to be an error somewhere because under "Security help" it was clearly stating I was protected when I don't believe I was.

Re: BT Virus protect

It would have been protected by Microsofts AV which is on by default. It gets turned off by Windows if you install another AV
