BT wifi opt in - stuck in death loop!!!

Go to solution

I’ve read a few people have the same issue and a Moderator is required to help?
Im trying to use BT wifi but an error message says I need to opt in.
I’m sent round in circles by the very poor BT websites, can anyone help or do I need to spend hours waiting for a human to answer the phone?
thanks in advance! 🥴

Hi @Torham, sorry you're not able to opt in to the wifi. I've sent you a Private Message so you can get in touch with the Mod team and we'll be happy to help you opt in.

Cheers

John

If you are trying to access BT WiFi on mobile device or laptop for example?, then do you have BT Broadband yourself as then you shouldn't need to opt in since 2009.

https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/how-do-i-check-that-i-ve-joined-the-bt-wi-fi-community-

If you log into your BT account and go to Your Products and scroll down to Included in your product, you should see a box containing this:

BT Wi-fi
Included with your products

Get free access to more than 5 million BT Wi-fi hotspots across the UK.

Simply click on the learn more button to read more about it and make sure that you have the BT WiFi app installed on mobile.

That same page towards the bottom, also has instructions about opting out...

Opt out of BT Wi-Fi

It gives you a simple button to click on to opt out, and you can simply opt back in again by clicking that button again.

It is worth checking it on your own account to see if it is set to opt out and not opt in.

If the button says opt in then simply click on it to opt back in.

I do not subscribe, so please do not always expect a reply.
