Mcafee to Norton Antivirus

Ive been happily using the Mcafee BT antivirus on my MacBook Pro running Mojave.

The installation process now fails saying mcafee is still present despite uninstalling  Mcafee, emptying trash and checking for other file folders and rebooting multiple times

As I use Sw that has a 32 bit installer , like many others; swapping to latest OS isn't an option.  I can't be alone in this , so can anyone advise why Norton still thinks Mcafee is still installed please and how to fix

Re: Mcafee to Norton Antivirus

Hi, @SMB2 welcome to the community and thanks for posting. I'm sorry to see you're having problems changing over to Norton.

If you’re using a version of Mac older than 10.14 you’ll need to manually remove McAfee first before installing Norton.  Follow the steps in this guide…

https://www.bt.com/content/dam/bt/help/security/norton-security-mac-hard-block.pdf

If you’ve ran the uninstaller and deleted the files and still get the error message we'll need to organise a call back from a specialist team so post back and let me know how you get on.

Thanks

Neil

Re: Mcafee to Norton Antivirus

I’ve already followed those instructions and I still get the error. I’m on 10.14 mojave so not older than 10,14 so by the support pages it should work, but it hasn’t and I can’t get by the error message to remove mcafee.   Please arran* for someone to contact me this pm

Re: Mcafee to Norton Antivirus

Hi @SMB2 I'm really sorry that hasn't worked, I'll send you a private message so you can send your details over to the moderation team.

We're quite busy at the moment and work through the private messages in the order that they arrive so it will likely be a day or two before we can respond, sorry. If you need help urgently you can get in touch with the helpdesk on this link.

Thanks

Neil

Re: Mcafee to Norton Antivirus

Resolved with a script from 2nd level support that found folders not shown in finder or applications
