Hi,
For a few months I've been having problems accessing the 'your WiFi network' part of the app. It's not accepting the admin password.
I did have a different password set which used to work okay. Since having the problem I've done a reset on the hub to restore the original admin password, but it still doesn't work on the app.
I can access the admin area of the hub via a browser, so the password works okay. I'm trying to configure device time restrictions, and that can now only be done via the app.
I've deleted the app storage and cache, reinstalled the app, and also tried it on a different device (Apple and Android) and still have the same issue.
Hey there @dr_broon.
I've just had a check of this at my end, and I don't need any admin password details in order to access these settings or pause my devices.
Are you able to see the correct details of your Hub, or are you not able to get as far as this?
Peter
Thanks for looking @Peter_W - I think it's supposed to be just during hub set up that you need to add the admin password. I can do things like speed test and restart the router, but when I try to go to the "your WiFi network" it is asking for the admin password "on the back of the hub".
I've attached a screenshot - after this page I can add the password but it says it's incorrect.
Thanks @dr_broon.
So are you struggling to pair your Hub full stop?
Just to be sure as well, the password is case sensitive, so is this absolutely 100% correct?
Peter
You need the admin password in order to access the Advance Settings on the hub. If you find that the password on the label is not working it may have been changed at some point.
To reset it you will need to carry out a factory reset of the hub by pressing a pin into the red recess button on the hub for about 20 seconds or until the lights on the hub start to flash.
Once it has restarted you will then need to access the hub's management pages //bthomehub.home . You will get a warning that it is insecure. Just ignore that and click on Accept/Advance or what ever your web browser is needing to get passed that page.
Once on the hub's management page click on "Advanced Settings and enter the password that is showing on the hub's label
You may then have to change the admin password to something of your choosing. This will be the hub admin password that will be required the next time you try to enter the advance settings.
Thanks for the reply.
As above, I did have a different password in the past, but after I started having this problem I did reset the hub to revert back to the original one.
I don't think the password for the hub is the issue, as I can log into the admin area on the hub via a browser using the ip address - it's just on the app where I have the issue.
What are you trying to access/do on the MyBT app?
Can not see anywhere on the MyBT app that you are asked to enter your hub admin password.
Have you tried using your Wifi password that is on the label?
I'm trying to access the "your WiFi network" menu where you can control WiFi access for devices (second option on this menu)
From there I get the screen asking for the admin password, as shown on my other post.
Thanks
I can access that without using the admin password.
Your previous post shows the page for setting up and connecting to the hub. Once connected you should not need to use the admin password and that page will not be offered again.
Are you sure you are connected to your BT Hub. The correct name (SSid) of the hub and the wireless password/passkey to connect to it are shown on the hub's label.
