@emptagrb Hi Richard, have you opted out and now want to opt back in again?

Re: Public BT Wi-Fi opt out - mod please assist

Hi @NeilO , yes I opted out a number of years ago, but would now like to opt back in so I can use the public BT hotspots again, but I cannot turn on the public hotspot on my hub.

Re: Public BT Wi-Fi opt out - mod please assist

Hi @emptagrb,

Have you tried opting back in through our website rather than on the Hub? If not, go to https://www.bt.com/mybt
Scroll down to Get more from My BT and click on Manage underneath Your Products. Scroll down again to Included in your product and click on Learn more underneath BT Wi-Fi. There should be an option to opt in to BT Wi-Fi here. If not, let me know so I can help you.

Thanks

Re: Public BT Wi-Fi opt out - mod please assist

Hi @DanielS, I’ve been there, ticked the I agree to terms box then clicked on Set up now button, but this just gives the 3 jumping dots and then refreshes with the terms box unticked and the Set up now button waiting to be clicked.  This seems to continue regardless of how many times I try.

Thanks for getting back to me @emptagrb.

I'll need to look into this for you and see if we can help. I've sent you a private message about it.

@DanielS

I have previously compared that website to a chocolate fireguard but I now take that back, melted chocolate has it's uses.  🍩 🍲

@emptagrb

If my experience is anything to go by, attempt to opt back in and wait about 4 months then your hub will behave as if you are opted in even though the website suggests otherwise and you will be able to access the hotspots.

I notice in another thread that @NeilO has reported this website once again, the question is, is anyone listening?

Re: Public BT Wi-Fi opt out - mod please assist

Hey @Les-Gibson,

It has been reported, there's an open case with our incident management team looking into it. It's not down for everyone so each time it's mentioned we have to make sure that the opt in process was followed. I'll be able to help get @emptagrb opted in and also add them as an example to the case.

Thanks
DanielS

@DanielS

Hi Daniel.

Don't get me wrong, I never for one moment doubted that it had been reported, but this is not a new issue by any means so my question, as I said in my last post, is if anyone that you report it to is listening or, as another forum member suggested recently, maybe @NeilO needs a bigger baseball bat
