Regain control of Xbox Game Pass

My 12 months of game pass is up and I'd like to renew outside of BT, but MS has locked me out of converting my account telling me to contact BT/EE to unlink the sub.

There are loads of posts asking for help here but every single one is solved in DMs, which is super unhelpful. Does anyone have a solution?
