Trying to activate 6 month Xbox game pass but I am given an error message “unable to process your request, please try again”

You currently won't be able to claim this online. Have you called in yet? If you do, they'll raise a case to our Xbox team who should help in about 5 working days.

Thanks for getting back to me. You should choose the home and broadband and then billing. That's option 1 and option 1 again.
They should be able to fill in the form to our internal Xbox/Microsoft team if they can't claim it for you.
Any issues, come back and let me know as we can look into this for you either. However, it can take 3-5 working days before we can pick it up and then contact the Xbox team after that.
