Hi!, I have a BT TV Pro box due to be delivered and activated on Monday 19th September (though after recent events, not sure if a Monday delivery is still on), i was looking at all my wiring here (with my nephews spare computers all wired up next to my old box), and got a little nervous about pulling plugs, leads etc out to set up the BT Pro, as i have Halo 3 +, thought it might be a idea to get a home tech expert to visit rather than me struggling amongst all the cables! Any idea if there is still a specific number to call out one of these (sure there was previously) or is it a case of just phoning customer services?
Thanks for your help!
The pro box supports wireless, so you can try connecting over Wi-Fi and not need any cables moved.
If you still have issues, ring the help team on 0800 800 150, as part of Halo you get 1 free visit per year, use it when you need 🙂
All I would do is unplug the hdmi cable from your old box, and plug it into your new one.
You don't need a network cable with the new box.
You don't even need an arieal these days if you are in a bad freeview reception area.
Thanks for the replies, yes i was going to set it up myself, never had a problem setting up my dtr-t2100 boxes previously....so will give it a go!
@GarryJ you might want to swap the HDMI cable that currently connected to the TV for the one with the Pro Box as the new one will be HDMI 2.1 compliant and will support HDR10 and 4K...
If you also want terrestrial TV via Internet, don't connect the aerial during set-up...
Many thanks for all the advice!
My BT Pro box was meant to be delivered and activated today, but obviously with royal mail not working will have to wait until tomorrow, but today i noticed when i log into MYBT and check my next estimated bill, a fee of £39.99 has been charged to my account for "activation charges", now i know there was a 9.99 postage fee, and knew of a 20.00 activation fee, just wondering what the other £10.00 was for? Reading reviews of the box i can see there was a fee charged of this price as it included a smart hub 2 (which i have already got anyway), so not sure if that is it or not. If this is all the correct fee you will need to be charged (39.99), all okay, no problem, my mistake, just thought i had better check on this!
Thanks again!
@GarryJ I wouldn't worry too much about the estimated bills at this stage. I joined BT last year and I occasionally get inaccurate bill estimates that seem to get sorted once the actual bill is issued. The important prices are the one's that are in your order email. Keep a hold of that in case there should be a mistake on your actual bill. Hope your installation goes well!
Took receipt of the BT Pro box this morning, shockingly, to me at least, i got it all set up very quickly using wireless, superb picture quality, and the things i was most worried about, the Now TV channels and BT Sport all set up fine, little sad that some of the Freeview channels are missing at the moment, but as i have read all the threads here, i expected some of those not to be enabled yet, but overall, very impressed! Just need to phone up and find out if indeed i have been charged 39.99 for installation/set up/postage, rather than the 29.99 i expected!
@GarryJ There was a software update several weeks ago so I doubt the new box you have will contain this latest release.
You might also find this of use as I;m pretty sure the same applies to the ProBox:
