Bt Youview tv box

Go to solution

I have been a customer of PTs for five years. I took the TV Internet and phone line package out in 2020 for the last two years. I’ve not borrowed using the TV box as there’s nothing that I would need to use it for as I have prime Netflix and the smart TV anyway is this correct that you TV box is charged at £115? If it is I will just buy the one off eBay and return that to you and save myself £63.

Any equipment supplied to you after 13/12/2019 is on loan and either needs to be returned at the end of contract or you're charged for it.

It's not worth the £115 and yes you'd be better off buying a second user box from the source you mentioned or CEX as with the latter you will get some warranty.

It's rented of BT so if the service is cancelled would need to be returned and if not is charged for.

If BT sent you a box as part of your subscription and it was a loan device, you'll need to return the same box and not a replacement one because I'd imagine they'll be tracked against the serial number.

I think you will find that BT are well on to that one 😢

You should also know that the £115 charge is a non-return fee, and the box BT supplied you with remains firmly their property, though return the box within two years and they will refund the charge.

But I remain confused by your logic here.

You don’t currently use the box, you haven’t used the box, you are now going to give up EETV, making the box even less useful, but you suddenly want to hang on to it so badly you are prepared to try defrauding BT in order to keep it - something you then inform them of in the open Community?🤔

I don’t have the box. My idiot of a husband threw it in the bin when clearing out under the stairs out. He said he thought it was an old DVD player that didn’t work anymore so as you can imagine I’ve ripped him a new one costing me £115 for a box that they need back. I’d happily give it back if I had it.
