Dtr t2100. Loss of sound when pressing skip forward/backward

Hi,  when watching a recorded programme with adverts I tend to use the skip forward button (and occasionally the skip back when I go too far).  This works 8/10 times.  But at other times it kills the sound system on the box.

that is, not just the sound on the recording, but every app, recording and live programme.  The only way to restore the box is to power cycle.  Then it behaves normally for a while.

ive tried power cycling the TV, unplugging HDMI, playing with the sound settings.  Nothing.  Only power cycling works.  Software is current as of 4 Nov.

problem is about a month old.  Also, I’ve done a system reset (keep recordings) and swapped the box for a spare.  Made no difference.

any ideas please?

Hi @powellj3 we have been looking at an issue involving ads on Freeview DTT programmes being transmitted on COM5 Multiplex channels, including Really, U&Dave, E4 Extra and Film4+1 and your time line is similar to the when we first saw the issues.  Are any of the impacted recordings that trigger the issue from programmes on those channels?

@David_H yes, it was generally on U&Drama. Actually the Brokenwood Mysteries and the Chelsea Detective. I have no recollection of it breaking when skipping through the results programme of strictly.

Thanks for confirming - as you have described the problem is primarily within ads, and very likely due to differences in audio encoding in the DTT stream causing the box to freeze and subsequently crash restart.

We're actively progressing with Youview and the relevant technical authorities in the Freeview/DTT world as the change is being made on the COM5 multiplex on a nationwide basis and appears to impact older Humax devices more than our newer boxes. Once the RCA is fully completed we hope to get a software patch developed but it's still a work in progress.

As a work around you might be able to skip the ads by using the numeric keys to jump ahead and then rewind back to the start of the segment - hardly ideal I appreciate but hopefully less of a pain than rebooting the box 😞

Hi @David_H  any response from YouView on this yet?  It’s still happening ( 13thNov).  Actually again on U&Drama Chelsea Detective from end of October.  This time it wasn’t the skip forward but the fast play.  I’ve not had a problem with that before.
