EE TV Box Pro issues

Go to solution

I'm having some problems with my new TV Box Pro, which doesn't seem to be as good as the old Youview box:

  • Fast forward and rewind not smooth - impossible to pause at right place
  • Recordings are often incomplete, for no reason
  • Turning subtitles on or off sometimes results in exiting a recording or live TV
  • When pausing live TV or a recording, the bar across the bottom doesn't disappear - really annoying if trying to read something
  • Recorded programme jumps back to the beginning after pausing
  • Difficult to navigate across apps etc, especially as there is no close button

Has anyone else got these issues, and is there a solution!

Hello @Pablo7

This problem has been ongoing for MONTHS with these and similar "triggers"!If you read through Recording Problems mentioned in the Community you may come across a few suggestions that could help somewhat e,g, you should find that the Bar that doesn't disappear on "Pause" should do so if you press Back button.

For me,the worst aspect is that it seems that if BT is contacted regarding this problem they still appear to be either replacing the Box when requested (new Boxes mostly appear to have same "Glitches") or Recommending Factory Reset (waste of time in my experience). Why (oh why oh why) are they not just saying there are ongoing problems that they are still hoping to fully eradicate but not with full success yet.

"Difficult to navigate" is a personal gripe imo.

FWIW when you pause press back & the bar disappears & strangely yet again there's widespread issues that I don't ecperience.

The support process SHOULD have appropriate escalation processes so that issues such as you experience are  escalated if not resolved . It is unclear whether they are doing so . If they do so and the developers are able to replicate issues they might investigate  If you are not getting satisfactory support I would recommend  raising a complaint.

 @Pablo7  Specifically on

  • Difficult to navigate across apps etc, especially as there is no close button

if you select the  Home button on the remote that will bring up the Home Screen and you can select the next app you wish to open from that screen.

EE TV Box Pro problems

Go to solution

This s/w has numerous bugs.
The box often reboots just because you take subtitles off. It resets to Channel 1 and any current recordings stop!
The similar thing also happens if you try and fast forward though a recording too many times. Only this time the recording returns to the beginning regardless of where you are, and the box reboots itself as above.
Have these bugs been reported elsewhere?

I am running:-
Component software 4.3.24 (23b1c8)
Manufacturer software  0.14.128
Platform configuration  5822 (9a4639f9)
ISP configuration 9204

I have seen exactly the same issues since day one with this box.
I was a BT trailist on the original YouView box 13 years ago and all new s/w revisions were thoroughly tested by the volunteer trailists until deemed fit for purpose.
This EE s/w needs to go via the same route as it's very poor!

Much of the feedback from the Youview triallists was ignored or poo-pooed and the issues remain until this day.

(I was another volunteer triallist)

Yes, very annoying. Wish I hadn't upgraded the box!
