EE TV - Confusion
Hi,
We have BT Broadband.
NOW TV Movie and Sports. Netflix. Disney+.
I'm considering bringing NOW TV (Movie only) and Netflix onto EE TV. As well as getting the TNT Sport (mainly for Eurosport) package.
We have all the apps on our smart TVs, Phones and Playstation.
If we go for EE TV, would access to the apps/program only be through the EE Box? Or can we access the apps through our devices directly?
- Netflix
- NOW TV Movie
Discovery+ / TNT Sport / Eurosport
It's not very clear what you can't do and can do from the offering page ...
Thank you

Re: EE TV - Confusion
There's no tailored packages to your exact requirements so you will need to add some stuff on or take some extra stuff either way
https://www.bt.com/tv/packages
Your best bet would be to get the sports tv package and add on now movies. You wouldn't get netflix included with this package though, and you'd need to subscribe to netflix separately.
To get netflix, now movies and TNT sport you would need to to take the Big Entertainment package and add on TNT sport. But this comes with both entertainment and movies as standard.
You will get access to the sports channels on the EPG and it should be the same for the movie channels.
Once you have your now and and discovery account usernames and passwords set up through your BT account settings you would then be able to use the apps on any other device you have.
Now, netflix and discovery apps are included on the Pro box.
Eurosport will be no more from next month and these sports events will be distributed to the other TNT channels and Quest channel it seems.

Re: EE TV - Confusion
The apps would be usable on your other existing devices subject to the normal (concurrent) device limit for each app. So the EETV Box would count as a device if watching.
Remember opting for EETV will typically involve a 2 year minimum term ( and probably involve a broadband commitment for further 2 years).
You may find better or at least different range of options by moving your broadband from BT to EE and taking EETV package on EE broadband.

Re: EE TV - Confusion
The main thing that EETV would bring you, apart from you losing any discount you currently have on Cinema, is that all the live channels from your subscriptions will be found in the extended EPG, and, if you take a Box Pro, you will be able to record them.
There is no downside restricting your use of other devices to watch your subscriptions if you move to EETV.

Re: EE TV - Confusion
Aren't BT and EE Broadband the same? So confusing!
If I look at another broadband provider, I might switch to Virgin Media. I haven't done much research, but they look cheaper.

Re: EE TV - Confusion
Ok, maybe they are not all in the same package.
I guess the question is, do I need an EE TV box to watch my program, or can I use the App as well (as I've got the app on all my devices)?

Re: EE TV - Confusion
I don't mind too much about the recording. Most apps have a replay. I wonder if I could get a plan without a box, as it will stay in a cupboard!

Re: EE TV - Confusion
Yes, you could get a plan without a box, but if you didn’t use the box, the plan would be pointless - you might as well just continue the existing subscriptions and watch via their apps.
And any new thing you want, subscribe to that and get their app. e,g. for TNT Sports, subscribe to Discovery+, and download their app.
I don’t think you can put together a bundle on EETV that is cheaper than subscribing to all the individual components. (Though if you can let me know).
EETV is for people who want one of the EETV boxes, and/or the aggregation it brings to the EPG, and/or the one bill a month aggregation it also brings. You have to want at least one of those things for EETV to make sense for you.

Re: EE TV - Confusion
@oli_le_triathlete As you are with BT Broadband there is the option to have TNT Sports on the discovery app on a rolling 30 day contract for what I believe is currently priced (acccording to Bt's tariff guide of 6thFeb2025) at £20/month . That would not involve an EETV contract and you would continue to watch the discovery plus app on your existing devices.

Re: EE TV - Confusion
If you get Virgin, you will lose all possibility of EETV, which you can only get over BT or EE broadband.
For some unfathomable reason, BT and EE broadband still exist as two separate services, though both offer the single EETV service. Technically the same, but some curious commercial differences in how the two (or is it one?) companies offer it.
