As you may be aware today's Miami Grand Prix has been brought forward from 9pm UK time to 6pm UK time due to anticipated bad weather https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/articles/c1j20lppnl3o This has knock-on effects for the pre- and post-race coverage, and the GP2 support race (which is never available on Now's catchup service). I won't be in at 6pm so need this to record. Almost needless to say, the EE Pro box has not updated to this schedule change. I've tried turning it off and back on at the wall (which I believe is a method of updated the schedule) but this has not worked. Is there anything I can do about this, or will we all miss being able to record this one?
Unfortunately Now TV don't provide us with real-time changes to their TV channels, so it hasn't automatically updated. We raised a request with them as soon as the news was announced, as we know the importance of this change. We're also trying to find a way to manually update it, if we can't get an official update from them.
The best I can suggest is that you request record of all programmes currently scheduled on that channel at that time, as well as the programme at its currently scheduled time. If we manage to get it updated, then the recording will automatically be rescheduled for the correct time. If we don't, then the other recordings should cover that same period.
That will mean being unable to record other programmes due to being out at the time (you're only legally allowed to record 2 sports channels at once, for reasons I've never been clear on), and will create a mess of fragmentary mistitled programmes in a very unclear order to root through in order to see what I actually want, but hopefully it will be a partial solution.
I don't really know why you would even launch the system without some sort of facility to deal with schedule changes on the day of an event, this really isn't that uncommon nowadays. I'm sorry, I've just replaced my box because of ongoing schedule issues and I've had 2 failed recordings already this weekend. This as well is really not good enough.
We have the ability to handle all TV schedule changes, where the broadcaster is willing to provide us with a feed of data. We wouldn't normally choose to manually override the broadcaster data ourselves, however this one seemed important enough, and we have enough notice to potentially do something about it.
Let's hope you can. That doesn't explain the two failed Premier League recordings this weekend though - after I was forced to replace my box (losing numerous recordings in the process, but nothing I can't live without) as part of the troubleshooting process. We all know this is a fundamentally faulty product that doesn't reliably do what we're paying for.
Looks like it's scheduled to record the F1 and is currently recording the F2 (though I'm watching that anyway), thanks very much. I'd advise everyone to check their boxes too.
Does this schedule change mean the FTA highlights will be able to be shown three hours earlier too?
Edit: Just checked the EPG and the FTA highlights show is now down to start at 11pm.
Recorded perfectly (and a really enjoyable race too). Well done BT for making sure we got to see it. Great that the FTA highlights on Channel 4 are showing correctly as being on tonight as well - enjoy.
