Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
Because if you want to watch live itv, the EETV device provides this via the EPG, whether you are in Aerial Mode or IP Mode. So if the app did this, it would just needlessly duplicate the functionality you already have on the box.
This is not the case for the Firestick, which may be being used in a situation where there is no other source of live itv than via the itv app.

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
Hi,
Thanks for the answer. I live in an area that has not got a great DTV reception. On the east Durham coast (not exactly Sibera) but surrounded by hills. A lot of people complain about reception. It does depend on weather. It would be good to stream as back up.

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
The EETV AppleTV and the Box Mini always provide itv via streaming, rather than terrestrial.
The Box Pro can optionally be put in IP Mode, rather than Aerial Mode, to do the same thing.
So all three EETV devices are trying quite hard to provide for people with poor or non-existent terrestrial reception.

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
I don't think it's just because it's a needless feature as iPlayer shows the live channels on the pro box and the Discovery app too has live channels too.
I think it's more to do with youview being unable to work with itv to get the get the live channels working on the app or the channel 4 app for the same reason.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the new channel 5 app when it is launched next month

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
Thanks for the information. MY5 is pretty good live. I am just trying to keep the amount of devices down. As I have stated before, DTV signal very poor. Even worse when a train goes past lol

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
@carsonbriggs66 I think you might just need to switch between the pro box and the fire stick when you want streaming channels from the apps.
Streaming channels will just get more common and popular as more people consider cord cutting (stepping away from TV subscription contracts) so it can only be a good thing giving us more options

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
@Midnight_Voice I believe that explanation for not providing live streams of ITV linear channels in their app due to them being available via other means on a EETV/YouView box was for the ITV Hub app. I have not seen any of ITV , Youview or EE/BT put that forward as an explanation for the ITVX app not having its expected features.

Re: ITVx app not showing live TV
Or maybe it’s just a holdover from the early YouView days, when only the BBC had live channels on their player, and the commercial broadcasters either didn’t want the live channels accessible that way, or they couldn’t shoehorn it all in.
